Christopher "Chris" Craven

Christopher "Chris" Gerald Craven, 60, passed away with his wife and daughter by his side on March 21, 2025.

Chris was born on 11/02/1964 to Floyd Calhoun and Gearline Craven. He graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High school where he played the sport he loved football. He worked in cable TV for 34 years and then retired from Spectrum TV. After retirement he and his wife started their own company in transportation, C&C Trucking where they traveled the country together with their daughter.

Chris was a great man that put all others above himself. He loved the outdoors, hunting & fishing and his Carolina Gamecocks. He loved watching his children play sports football, baseball, wrestling, softball, cheerleading and dance. He was very excited about the news of him becoming a grandfather with his first grandchild.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael Levi Craven, two sisters Connie Curren and Michelle Blackmon. He left behind his wife, Elinor Elizabeth Kemmerlin Craven of 25 years, their daughter, Leana Elizabeth Craven, 3 daughters, Kelley Craven, Laurie Craven (Jordan), Claire Craven (Mae), and a son Kinard Craven (Kayson)and his fur baby girl "Layla." He also leaves his sister, Renee English and her two daughters, Kendra and Ava, sister-in-law, Angela Barfield (Ron) as well as two nephews Nicholas and Tyler and niece Ashley and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25,2025 from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg, where he will be laid to rest.

Pallbearers will be Troy Widner, Shawn Calas, Gerald Bonnet, Jimmy Chavis Jr., and Timothy Jennings.

Troy Widner will also be handling the music.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Thompson’s Funeral home, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg, S.C. 29115 to help with the arrangements. The family will be very grateful.
