Corrie Garrick (Kinard) Gibson

Corrie Kinard Garrick Gibson, 94, of Norway passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Mrs. Corrie was born in Norway, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Leo V. Kinard and the late Hattie Mae Wilson Kinard.  She was employed for many years with Carolina Eastman until her retirement.  She found enjoyment in decorating and dressing up for her favorite holidays, Christmas, Halloween and Easter.  She was affectionately known by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild as, “Caca.”  Mrs. Corrie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and the father of her children, J.C. Garrick, her second husband, Paul E. Gibson, her sons, Jacob Garrick and Paul Garrick and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children, Becky (Scott) Weathers of Summerville, Paulette (Gene) Cockrell of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Garrick of Norway; ten grandchildren, Angel (Tim) Howard of Charleston, Misty (Donnie) Herndon of Harleyville, Shandon (Jessica) Metts, Justin (Kelly) Metts of Lexington, Jacob “Tripp’ (Carrie) Garrick, III of Norway, Joni (Robert) Brown of Norway, Courtney (Charles) Sanders of Summerville, Audrey Garrick of Myrtle Beach, Kayla Garrick of Lexington, Conner Garrick of Lexington; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Agnes Keitt of Osteen, FL; a special nephew, Larry (Carol) Kinard of Baltimore, MD and a number of additional nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Church, 594 Calvary Church Road, Neeses.  Rev. Jim Parnell will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mrs. Corrie’s great-grandsons.
