Mrs. Dana Elizabeth McAlhany Ball, 47, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Orangeburg after courageously facing an eight-year battle with multiple myeloma.
Born on March 10, 1978, in Orangeburg, Dana was a lifelong resident of the area and a proud graduate of Branchville High School. She continued her education at Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, where she earned an associate degree, and later completed training at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. In her spare time, she had a passion for rescuing animals. Her commitment to public service led her to a career with Orangeburg Public Safety Dispatch, where she served her community with dedication and professionalism.
Dana’s life was deeply rooted in love for her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Ball of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton and Patricia Heaton McAlhany; and her brothers, Chris McAlhany (Crystal) and Justin McAlhany (Brenna), all of Branchville. She also leaves behind her cherished nephews, Daniel and Kirkland and niece, Rachel. Dana shared close bonds with her aunts, Sue Davis of Bowman and Linda Heaton of Reeseville. She was also loved by her mother- and father-in-law, Judy and Gene Ball.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Simmie and Iva McAlhany; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick and Grace Heaton; and great-uncle Ernest McAlhany.
A funeral service to honor Dana’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Prospect Southern Methodist Church 344 Flatwoods Road, Bowman. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery in Branchville, S.C.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel McAlhany, Hal Carter, Wesley Owens, Tim Carter, Doug Hughes, Gary Summers, and Mike Roland.
