Dennis Lee Slaughter, 79, passed away peacefully on April 21, following a long illness.

Born on June 13, 1947, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Chester and Annabelle Mott Slaughter.

Dennis found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling especially cruises - and dining out. Whether it was a trip to Costco or listening to oldies music, he appreciated the everyday moments that made life enjoyable. Throughout his life, Dennis pursued a variety of interesting careers, including owning a wine and cheese shop, operating a pawn shop, and working as a jeweler for 35 years. Even in retirement, he remained passionate about his craft, often helping friends, family, and longtime customers find the perfect piece of jewelry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Longnion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Slaughter of Cameron, South Carolina; his daughter, Christy (Timmy) York; his stepdaughter, Katie (TJ) Yarborough; two grandsons, Logan and Jesse York; his sister, Sue Knight, his brother, Donald Slaughter; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
