Don S. Purdy, 86, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robert Cannon will be officiating.
Mr. Purdy was born on March 24, 1930 in Lindsey, California. He was the son of the late Ralph S. Purdy and the late Mattie Minor Purdy. He served in the United States Army. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Purdy was a Financial Director for Smith-Corona, Hughes Aircraft, Sunbeam Appliance and Raytheon. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Jean and Barbara and 2 brothers, Jack and David.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jenille Thomson Purdy of Orangeburg; 2 daughters, Cyndee Waltz (Gene) of St. Matthews and Dawn Dempsey (Mark) of Nashville, TN; 2 grandchildren, Noah and Olivia Dempsey of Nashville, TN.
