Doris (Lewis) Irick

November 20, 1934 — February 22, 2024

Mrs. Doris Lewis Irick, 89, widow of Elton “Nook” Irick, Sr., passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, February 26, 2024, at St. George Baptist Church, 2590 Shillings Bridge Rd, Orangeburg.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Pastor Terry Wilder will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 P.M. on Monday, February 26, 2024, prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ray Lewis, Ernie Hughes, Harold Hughes and Ralph Marcano.

Mrs. Irick was born on November 20, 1934, in Bamberg County.  She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lewis and the late Retha Hewitt Lewis.  She was the owner and operator of Shuler’s Crop Insurance until her retirement.  Mrs. Irick was a faithful member of St. George Baptist Church until her health failed.  She served as the church librarian for many years. After her retirement she had many, hobbies including sewing, traveling with the church and going on day trips to the Riverbanks Zoo.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons, Elton Norman Irick, Jr., Kenneth Irick, brothers, Carl Lewis, Dan Lewis, Bob Lewis, Tom Lewis, Rufus Lewis, sister, Johnnie Rodrigue, grandchildren, Preston Jennings, Jorgia Kemmerlin, sisters-in-law, Angie Lewis and Barbara Lewis.

Survivors include her daughter, Lucille Jennings (Ricky Headden); grandchildren, Monica Irick, Andrea Kuehl (Brian), Stephen Irick, Sarina Irick, Miranda Irick, Garrett Irick, Dustin Chedester (Rachel); great-grandchildren, Michael Wingard (Santana), Dawson Morgan (Don’Alyssa), Gavin Morgan, Isabella, Hazel and Lilith Jennings, Dana Kuehl; great-great grandchildren, Kylie, Gannan and Vincent Chedester, Ian Wingard, Serra’Lynn and Malena Steedley; brothers, James Lewis (Carol), Jerry Lewis (Glenda); sisters, Elsie Fogle (Ozzie), Louise Hughes (Mason); sisters-in-law, Janet Lewis, Linda Lewis; daughter-in-law, Marie Irick and a number of nieces, nephews and additional family and friends.

Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Irick to the Ronald McDonald House at 2901 Colonial Drive Columbia, SC 29203.
