Douglas Preston Bledsoe, Sr., 72, of Elloree, S.C., died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with the Rev. James Williams officiating.
Mr. Bledsoe was born November 25, 1941 in Johnston, S.C. a son of the late Douglas and Agnes Polatty Bledsoe. He was preceded in death be a brother, Joseph Marion Bledsoe. He was retired with 38 years of service with SCE&G. He was a member of the Masonic Charity Lodge #62, 7 times past master and a member of the Lyons Club and the Community Hunting Club of Elloree.
Surviving his wife of 47 years, Linda Moore Bledsoe of Elloree, one daughter; Melissa Tyler of Orangeburg, one son; Douglas Preston (Ruth Lynette) Bledsoe, Jr. of Vance; grandson, Dylan Tyler of Orangeburg; one granddaughter; Zoe Grace Tyler of Orangeburg; two brothers; Everette (Ann) Bledsoe and Dwight (Margaret) Bledsoe; three sisters; Georgia Gillion, Arnette (Ward) Holmes and Elise (J.C.) Rodgers and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence in Elloree.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday. February 14, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
