Edward "Eddie" McBride Boland, Jr. , 61 of the Canaan Community November 2, 2013 died Saturday at his residence.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 Monday, November 4, 2013 at Springfield Cemetery with Rev. Alan Woodward officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home , Inc. in Orangeburg.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mike Fanning, Brett Johnson, Sr., Brett Johnson, Jr., Clinton Metts, Chuck Nichols and Teddy Weeks.
Mr. Boland was born October 12, 1952 in Orangeburg, a son of the late Edward M. Boland, Sr. and Lucille Reasonover Boland. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He also attended Canaan Baptist Church. He enjoyed his long time commitment with the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) and many coaches, officials, and especially the student athletes with whom he had worked with for over the past 39 years. In addition to his work with the SCISA, he was talented with home renovations, remodels, and repairs, as well as many other areas of general construction. He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, and overall outdoorsman and enjoyed passing this love to his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Holly McBride Boland.
Survivors include his companion, Glenda Davis of the home; a son, Edward M. Boland III (Leigh) of Orangeburg; a daughter, Christina E. Boland of Orangeburg; three grandchildren, Mac, Kate and Ben Boland; an aunt, Mary Catherine Brown of Springfield; a brother, Albert B. Boland of Columbia; and a number of cousins.
Friends are welcome to visit or call at both the homes of Glenda Davis (1075 Hudson Road, Cope) as well as Mr. Boland's son, Trip (3072 Bragg Boulevard, Orangeburg) from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2013.
