Ellen Mizzell Drawdy

Ellen Mizzell Drawdy, of 2648 Hillcrest, NE, Orangeburg, SC died on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg after a brief illness.

The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, August 23rd, at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Shane Stutzman and the Reverend Jim Parnell officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg, South Carolina. Pallbearers will be; Carl Butler, Jimmy Lane, Steven Drawdy, Charles Drawdy, Tommy Chavis and Tray Till. Honorary Pall Bearers are the Cornerstone Sunday School Class of Northside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Drawdy was born on August 1, 1930 in St. George, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Bertha Harbison and Dan Henry Mizzell. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Cornerstone Sunday School Class. She retired after 30+ years of work for the State of South Carolina. She and Ralph enjoyed over 20 years of retirement together. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Her passion was her family and she was actively involved with both of her granddaughters from the time of their birth until her death. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Hammerly Drawdy; sisters, Dorothy Alford, Bertha Latham, Faye Oliver, Wallis Geiger and her brother, Herman Mizzell.

Survivors include her daughter, Christina Drawdy (David) Kitchings; two granddaughters, Hannah Kitchings (Martin) Till of Lexington, S.C. and Rachel Lauren Kitchings of Columbia, S.C.; one great-grandson, Jacob Martin Till of Lexington, S.C.; one sister, Barbara (Stu) Greer of Columbia and two brothers, Dan (Betty) Mizzell of Charleston and Richard Mizzell of Columbia as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence 2648 Hillcrest Avenue.

A visitation will be held at Northside Baptist Church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral service.

The family would like to thank the staff of CCU, ICU and 4 West of tRMC, as well as Morningside Assisted Living and Jolley Acres Healthcare Center for their care and concern.
