Emmett N. Stevenson

October 15, 1924 — June 8, 2013

Emmett N. "Buck" Stevenson, age 88, of 109 Ninth Street, Cordova, SC died at the Regional medical Center on June 8, 2013 after a brief illness.

Mr. Stevenson's whishes were for cremation with private memorial services at a later date.

Mr. Stevenson was born October 15, 1924 in Norway, a son on the late James Jacob Hutto and Emma Olivia Steverson Hutto. He was a member of Willow Swamp Baptist church. Mr. Stevenson worked on the family farm until joining the United States Marie Corps. and served on the front lines in the Korean Conflict, receiving the purple heart medal for serious injuries during battle. He was then transferred back to Paris Island, SC where he ran the main gate at the USMC base. After leaving the USMC, he worked as a certified welder for Daniels Construction Company, Fluor Corporation, Applied Engineering in Orangeburg for over 20 years, and also worked at Mayer Industries for nearly 15 years until just shortly before his passing. He was still very active and healthy for his age and loved to work. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie M. Carson Stevenson, and one daughter, one son and one grandson.

Survivors include daughter, Sheri Stevenson Harrison, son, Emmitt Wayne Stevenson and grandson Eric Salley all of Cordova, also a number of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the residence at 109 Ninth Street, Cordova, SC

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
