Evelyn (Yancey) Bates

Evelyn Yancey Bates, 92, of St, Matthews passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Gesthemane Baptist Church, 655 Hammond Cross Road, St. Matthews.

Mrs. Bates was born on March 17, 1929, in Orangeburg, S.C.  She was the daughter of the late Pink R. Yancey and the late Eliza Furtick Yancey.  She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Leroy Bates, a son, Roy Glenn Bates and a daughter, Linda Chavis.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Hildebrand of St. Matthews, Margaret Gladden of St. Matthews, Betty Jean Heckle of West Columbia and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
