Fannie Mae Nates ,87 of Orangeburg died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Laurel Baye Health Care Center in Orangeburg.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia with Rev. Tommy Hutto officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
She was born February 2, 1927 in Eastover, SC; the daughter of the late Samuel F. Bookhart and the late Viola Champy Bookhart. She was the widow of the late Sgt. Major James M. Nates and was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Mary Collins and Ruth Barton and by a grand-daughter; Tonya Jackson Cooper.
Survivors include 4 daughters; Joyce B. Bell of Orangeburg; Sarah (Billy) Walker of Winnsboro; Alice Kay Nates of Lexington and Eloise Diane Cumbee of Aiken; 1 son; Samuel F. (Joyce) Bookhart of Gaston; 1 sister; Mildred Bookhart of Columbia; 1 brother; Joseph Champy of Columbia; a number of nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
