Mr. Francis "Frank" Ulmer Bookhardt, Sr., 75 of Orangeburg died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service in the Fellowship Hall at White House United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014 at White House United Methodist Church in Orangeburg with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Marie Ray, Rev. Preston Grimsley and Rev. Robbie Hall directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.in Orangeburg Pallbearers will be Butch Bookhardt, Walt Cary, Rock Smith, Charles Hagan, John Bagwell and Steve Reaka Honorary pallbearers--- Regional Medical Center and Dr. Robert Smoak's office
He was born November 24, 1938 in Orangeburg, SC; the son of the late Hoyt Ulmer Bookhardt and the late Mary Goodwin Bookhardt. He served in the U.S. Air Force and played the trumpet in the Air Force Band while in service also played taps for many funeral services in the Orangeburg area and played for White House United Methodist Church and also played in several bands in South Carolina. He was a member of White House United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. He was retired from Ferro Corporation and was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He was a member of the Orangeburg Elks Lodge 897. Mr. Frank was known for his love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends and had a great love for wild life and loved his Lord and Savior. One of his most enjoyable times was to have bait for fishing and food for his grandchildren when they visited him.
Survivors include his wife; Evelyn Garris Bookhardt of the home; 5 children; Ricky, Kevin, Elizabeth, Frankie and Kelly; 8 grandchildren; Kim, Brandon, Brad, Emma, Sam, Josh, Gabby and Tyler; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; also 2 sisters; Mary Grace and Sally Jo and his special pets; Sugar and Blu. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service in the Fellowship Hall at White House United Methodist Church.
