Franklin R Fanning

Franklin R. Fanning, 79 of 208 Peach Orchard Drive, Norway, S.C died Wednesday June 26, 2013 at his residence.

***The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service*** Funeral Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 29, 2013 Calvary Baptist Church, 594 Calvary Church Road, Neeses, S.C. with Rev. William Jacques and Rev. Bud Judy officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg with burial in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chad Brunson, Randy Brunson, Chuck Fogle, Clint Fanning, Ron Phillips, and Harry Fanning, Jr.

Mr. Fanning was born June 1, 1934 in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Charlie Pou Fanning and the late Azalee Berry Fanning. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Army, he served three years in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the S.C. Department of Education, School Bus Dept. after 31 years. He was a farmer most of his life. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his grandchildren. He will always be loved and never forgotten. Two predeceased children Janet Fanning and Richard Fanning.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Joyce Robinson Fanning of Norway; three daughters; Debra Jeffcoat of Bowman, Ann Fanning of Livingston, and Stephanie Fanning of Orangeburg; one son, Eddie Fanning of Neeses; Brothers; Pete Fanning of Orangeburg, Harold Fanning, S.P. Fanning and Lavern Fanning all of Norway, Jim Fanning and Harry Fanning both of Orangeburg; sisters; Maggie Fogle and Barbara Ann Ferguson both of Orangeburg. 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.

Friends may call at the residence, 208 Peach Orchard Drive, Norway, S.C. and the funeral home. 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
