Franklin “Monty” Montgomery Rast

Franklin “Monty” Montgomery Rast, 52, of Orangeburg passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

Monty was born on August 15, 1970 in Orangeburg.  He was the son of the late Frank and Carol Rast and the late  Sherry H. Peddycord Morefield.  He worked for many years as a machinist with Zeus Industrries.  Monty enjoyed riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles.  He was a talented bass player that played for many years with the bands, Tokoyo Joe and lastly with Free Beer. He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, Chet Peddycord.

Survivors include his daughter, Jaxie Rast of St. George; sisters, Jaime (Guy) Moorer of Orangeburg, Mickey Morefield- Price of N.C.; nephew, Chandler Moorer  and a niece, Chloe Moorer.
