George Basil Milhouse of Orangeburg died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Hospice of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Morgan Family Cemetery near Springfield with Dr. C. Clark McCrary III officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Travis Houck, Weston Houck, Rhett Milhouse, Morgan Milhouse, Chad Milhouse, Aaron Milhouse and Colie Milhouse; and a special friend, Ray Hutto
He was born February 9, 1927 in Orangeburg, SC; the son of the late George O. Milhouse and the late Odell Nettles Milhouse. He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from Sunbeam Bread after 27 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW #2779 and the Elks Lodge #897. He was preceded in death by a grandson; Kirby Milhouse; 3 sisters; Mary Ellis Trapell, Leona Downs and Deanie Proveaux; 3 brothers; Colie Milhouse, Sonny Milhouse and Bobby Milhouse.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years; Ramona Fanning Milhouse of Orangeburg; 1 daughter; Sherry Dell Milhouse Houck (Sandy) of Cameron; 3 sons; Basil Rory Milhouse (Paula) of West Columbia; Jody Milhouse (Joan) of Neeses and Kelly Milhouse of Orangeburg; 7 grandsons; Travis Houck (Kelly) of Cameron; Weston Houck (Ashley) of Greenville; Rhett Milhouse of Columbia; Morgan Milhouse (Denise) of Columbia; Chad Milhouse (Kim) of Charlotte, NC; Aaron Milhouse of Clemson and Colie Milhouse of Moncks Corner; 2 great grandchildren; Turner Ryan Houck and Annesly Allison Houck both of Cameron; 1 sister; Kay Kester of West Columbia; 2 brothers; Billy Milhouse (Linda) and Ronnie Milhouse (Pat) of Orangeburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.
VISITATION will be held 6:00 TO 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
