Yesterday at sunset I kissed ole George goodbye - he was such a wonderful husband and friend for over 30 years... Mr. George died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his residence.
Visitation will be 2:00-3:30 P.M. Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg, S.C.
Graveside Services will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, on Hwy, 21, Orangeburg, with Pastor Eldon Armstrong and Pastor Hazel Bennett officiating, directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
Pallbearers will be Gary Jeffcoat, John Meyer, J. D. Shirer, Harrison Copeland, Hayden Copeland, Ed Jeffcoat, and George Stoudenmire.
Mr. Jeffcoat will be missed by all of us to who shared his company during a lifetime of service to others and days of fun and fellowship here at Wesley Commons. George was born May 24, 1927 the middle son of the late Sara Emily Carson Jeffcoat and the late David Hill Jeffcoat. George will be buried by his first wife Mary Ellen Grant Jeffcoat and son Larry Connor Jeffcoat. George served in the U. S. Navy and was a 1950 graduate of Clemson. His career in Ag-Engineering led him to teach at Sumter Area Technical College. He was a wine maker and worked to develop the use of gasohol from vegetables for use as fuel for farm machinery. He was a member of Soule Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife Laura Daniel Jeffcoat of the home at 114 Lovely Lane in Wesley Commons. His daughter Gue' and Johnny Meyer of Charleston; two brothers; David Hill Jeffcoat of Orangeburg and Gerald and Carolyn Jeffcoat of Greenwood. Six Grandchildren; Barry Kelley New, Jr., Eric, Daniel Travis, Bailee, Nick and Jordon Wilson all of Abbeville, a great grandson; Gunner, born in February to Paige and Daniel New of Abbeville.
Memorials may be given to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 326 Montague Avenue, Greenwood, S.C. 2964 . Wonderful home care was given by Cindy Cider, RN and Bridgett Clennons and Doctors, O. M. Cobb and Dr. Homes.
