George Levon Kirby, 73 of 1203 Cannon Bridge Rd. Cordova died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his residence.
The Casket will be put in the church one hour before the service.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 19, 2015 at Victory Hill Church of God; 127 South West Circle; Cordova with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg with Military Honors with Rev. Andrew Baxley and Rev. Wallace King officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
Pallbearers will be Army Military Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles "Monk" McMurray, Jonathan Kirby, Chris Lovern, Wayne C. Kirby II, Tom Summers, Inman Summers, Christopher Kirby, H.L. Feagin, Wayne Beason, Heyward Corbett, Lil' Wayne C. Kirby, Doug Kirby and Nick Johnson.
He was born August 22, 1941 in Conway, SC; the son of the late Chester Earl Kirby and the late Ruth Elizabeth Vereen Kirby. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zimmie Marie Kirby; a daughter; Karen Kirby and by brothers; Earl Lenwood Kirby, Wayne Carroll Kirby and a sister; WandaSue Kirby Spires.
Survivors include his wife; Arlene Smith Kirby of Cordova; his children; Donna Irick (John); Robin Kirby (Chris); Inman Summers (Sharon) and Tom Summers (Stephanie) all of Orangeburg and Grandchildren; Kirby Ashley Inabinet (Evan); Emily Irick, Wyatt Kirby all of Orangeburg; Cloda Johnson (Nick) of Cordova; Tara Summers, Morgan Summers, Madison Summers of Orangeburg and a great granddaughter; Ansley Rae Johnson of Orangeburg; brothers and sisters; Ruby Jeanette O'Neal of Griffin, GA; Donald Carl Kirby (Lois); Brenda Ann Kirby; Fawn El Kirby of Bamberg; Wendell Kenneth Kirby all of Orangeburg; and Juandail Kirby (Deborah) of Aiken.
Friends may call at the residence; 1203 Cannon Bridge Road; Cordova and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. The family would like to give a Special Thanks to Grove Park Hospice.
