Gerald E. Williamson, 78, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 29, 1948, Gerald lived a life grounded in faith, devotion, and deep love for those closest to him. His greatest blessing was his relationship with Christ Jesus and his family, and he loved his family unconditionally. He was a loving and caring man who dedicated his life to his family, leaving behind a legacy of steadfast love and devotion that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Army. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from 1968 to 1970 as a Sergeant. His service reflected the strength, commitment, and sense of duty that marked so many parts of his life.
For more than 50 years, Gerald was the owner and operator of G and G Auto Salvage. He loved his customers, and through his work he built lasting connections with many in the community. He was also a member of Impact Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life. He loved his pastor, Rick and Shelia Watts, and found great meaning in his church family.
Above all, Gerald cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Shirley Williamson. He also leaves behind his daughters, Sherry L. Williamson and Wendy (Jason) Bilton. His memory will be treasured by his grandchildren, William “Zach” Moseley, Guy ( MaKayla) Moseley, Hannah (Caleb) Smoak, and Savannah Bilton. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Addilyn G. Kirby, and Parklyn Taylor and Weston Smoak, as well as his brother, Michael (Nancy) Williamson and several nieces and nephews. Each of them carries forward the love he gave so freely, and each was a cherished part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Inez Williamson; his sisters, Jackie (Nick) Klinicki, Melba (Bobby) McDaniel, and Guy Eula Grimes.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC 29115.
