Gloria (Brant) Chapline

Gloria Brant Chapline, 72, of Orangeburg passed away after an extended illness on Monday, December 18, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Gloria was born on August 16, 1951, in Orangeburg, S.C.  She was the daughter of the late Bertie A. Brant and the late Lillie Mills Brant.  She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Orangeburg.  Gloria loved her job with the Biddie Banquet where she served others for many years.  She went on to cater for many events and was famous for her red velvet cakes.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Eugene Brant, Fred Brant, John Henry Brant, George Brant, B.L. “Luke” Brant, James Brant and William “Ed” Brant.

Survivors include her brother, Roger (Mary) Brant; sisters, Gertrude Thompson, Betty Carson, Mary Cunio; sister-in-law, Devone Brant; daughter, Lynn G. Murdaugh; granddaughters, Gabby Murdaugh, Alexis Reeves; three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and special friends.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  Rev. Brian Self will be officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
