Gordon Wayne Bailey, Sr., 68 of St. Matthews, SC died early Saturday morning August 23, 2014 at his residence.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Wednesday before the service at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with Rev. Lois Helms.
He was born June 24, 1946 in Laurens, SC; the son of the late King George Bailey and the late Blanche McCoig Bailey. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 410 in Goose Creek. He was retired from Jacobs Engineering. He was preceded in death by a son; Gordon Wayne Bailey, Jr. and a granddaughter; Christianna Nickole Taylor Bailey.
SURVIVORS include 2 sons; Michael John Wayne Bailey of St. Matthews and Matthew Wayne Bailey of Cordova; 1 daughter; Shawn Bailey Laxson of Augusta, GA; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters; Linda Moore of Six Miles, SC and Esther (Furman) Harris of Liberty, SC; 5 brothers; George Adrian Bailey of Columbia; Steve Mitchell Bailey of Liberty; Richard William Bailey of Indiana; Grady Bailey of GA and Raymond Glenn Bailey of Winston Salem.
Friends may call at the residence of Matthew Bailey; 2883 Legrand Smoak Street; Cordova and at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Wednesday before the service at the funeral home.
