Harry James Monroe, Jr. was born on November 20, 1963, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He passed away on January 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a remarkable ability to bring support to those around him.
A devoted and loving husband, Harry shared 34 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Judy Sandel Monroe. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with countless cherished memories. Harry was also blessed with brothers, Daniel Monroe, Bobby Monroe, and Edward Monroe, as well as his sister, Mary Gurganus. He treasured his relationships with his many nieces and nephews and was adored by his furry companion, Fred.
Harry's professional journey included over 25 years of dedicated service at Calhoun Oil Company, from which he ultimately retired. His career exemplified his work ethic and commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional achievements, he took immense pride in owning and operating his own goat farm, a true testament to his passion for life and nurturing spirit.
A man of faith, Harry was an active member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served diligently as a deacon and was a key member of the Audio/Visual Committee. He also served as chairman of the Property Committee. His unwavering dedication to his community and church reflected his deep-seated values and the importance he placed on giving back.
Known for his unique ability to fix anything, Harry was more than just a skilled handyman—his willingness to lend a hand made him a cherished friend and a reliable figure in the lives of many.
Harry Monroe is preceded in death by his loving parents, Harry J. Monroe, Sr. and Catherine Williamson Aultman, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and determination that guided him throughout his life.
Memorial services honoring Harry James Monroe, Jr. will be held at 11:00 A.M. on January 31, 2026, at Providence Baptist Church located at 51 Providence Road, Orangeburg, SC, 29118. A visitation will follow the memorial service.
His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
