Hazel S Strakay

Mrs. Hazel S. Strakay, 102, of 1344 Springdale NE, Orangeburg, SC died February 17, 2013 at The Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the graveside at West End Cemetery, St. Matthews, SC. The Rev. Cooper Stonestreet is in charge of the service.

Mrs. Strakay was born December 28, 1910 in St. Matthews, SC. She was a daughter of the late Wade Hampton Stabler and Effie Wise Stabler. She was a member of West Bethel United Methodist Church of St. Matthews, SC. She was the widow of the late Olin Walker Sauls, Edgar Vincent Millwood and John Louis Strakay. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille McLaughlin, Aline Wise and Margaret Thornton, and a nephew C.M. "Buddy" Thornton.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Sauls Durr of Orangeburg, SC; grandsons, Walter David (Pam) Durr of Cameron, SC and Russell Lamar (Debbie) Durr of Norway, SC; great grandchildren, Justin (Claire) Durr of Norway, SC and Rene Durr of Norway, SC; step daughter, Barbara Helm of Sunberry, PA and step grandson, Robbie Helm of North Carolina; nephew Richard (Ann) Thornton, of St. Matthews, SC; four nieces, Lula Ochocinsky of Pelion, SC, Carolyn Jackson or Columbia, SC Jewell Crider and Addle Rickenbaker both of St. Matthews, SC.

Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Peggy Durr, 1350 Springdale NE, Orangeburg, SC and at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg, SC.
