Heyward Cecil
Hutto, Jr.

Lebanon United Methodist Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Heyward Cecil Hutto, Jr., born August 4, 1941, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Mr. Hutto leaves behind a legacy marked by commitment, and service.
A proud graduate of Edisto High School and Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, Heyward built a distinguished career, retiring after 30 years as a machinist with Mayer Industries. His work ethic was matched only by his devotion to his family and his community. He was the last living charter member of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Posse, an accomplishment reflecting his steadfast dedication to public service.
Heyward’s life was also deeply shaped by his service as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army, embodying the bravery and sacrifice of his generation. Those who knew him remember him for the joy he found in everyday pleasures—especially his fondness for visits to the flea market and the simple happiness it brought him.
Above all, Heyward loved being a "Poppie." His pride and affection for his grandchildren were unmistakable and the love he held for his family was profound.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mindy Corbett Hutto; his son, Heyward “Andy” Hutto and wife Adell; his daughters, Megan Poole and husband Raiford, Marie Walling and husband Jason, and Marla Robinson and husband Wade; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Grace Poole, Will Hutto, Molly Robinson, Makenley Walling, Henry Robinson, and Madelyn Walling. Heyward also leaves behind his sister, Peggy Kinsey, and brothers Wallace Williams and wife Carrie, Tom Hutto and wife Carolyn, and Homer Hutto.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Heyward C. and Lizzie M. Hutto; his daughter, Yolanda Hutto; and his siblings, Sammie Hutto and Patricia Carlson.
A graveside service honoring Heyward's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Lebanon United Methodist Church, 768 Calvary Church Road, Neeses. Pastor Jay Fanning will be officiating.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are George Hutto, Jack Hutto, Raiford Poole, Jason Walling, Wade Robinson, Will Hutto and Henry Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Mack and James Skinner.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of NHC Charleston for the kindness, love and care that was shown to Heyward and his family the last few years, and especially his case worker, April Doctor.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church P.O. Box 367 Norway, S.C. 29113.
Heyward Cecil Hutto, Jr.’s life was one of meaningful service, enduring love, and joyful memories. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, strength, and unwavering family devotion. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
