Howard S. Smith

Howard Sidney Smith, 93, of 5314 Cameron Road passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 30, 2016. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at West End Cemetery in St. Matthews. Dr. Rev. Thomas B. Huggins, Jr. will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Guy Moorer, Chandler Moorer, David Moorer, Adam Moorer, Layton Oswald, Tim Ladd

Mr. Smith was born on April 2, 1923 in St. Matthews. He was the son of the late Dufford Smith and the late Annie Belle Smoak Smith. He was retired from Southern Bell. Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy. He was a WWII Veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Mr. Smith was also a member of First Baptist Church in St. Matthews.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Vice Smith of Cameron; daughter, Paula Smith Ritchie of Orlando, Fl.; step-son, Gregg (Donna) Moorer of Orangeburg; step-daughter, Jeanette (Larry) Jeffcoat of Cordova; 8 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Vernett Zeigler and Agape' Hospice for their love and support shown to the family.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. prior to the funeral service.
