Hoyt Couthford Shumaker 78 of Orangeburg died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Laurel Baye Health care Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg with Pastor Lu Ann Zeigler officiating. , directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

PALLBEARERS will be Larry Kemmerlin, Jerry Gates, Bobby Kemmerlin and Paul Hamilton

He was born August 25, 1935 in Orangeburg County, SC; the son of the late Tillman Shumaker and the late Bertha Ann Arant Shumaker. He served in the US Army and was retired from the Orangeburg Regional Hospital. He was one of the first members of the Orangeburg Traffic Safety Patrol. He made a rocky horse for the Pied piper Care Center; He was the widower of the late Doris B. Judy Shumaker.

Survivors include 2 daughters; Mrs. Bobby (Wendy) Kemmerlin of Orangeburg; Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Hamilton of Cordova; 1 brother; Willis Shumaker of Bowman and 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE residence of Mr. & Mrs. Bobby Kemmerlin; 2709 Pheasant Lane; Orangeburg and at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Hamilton; 396 Mixson Mill Road; Cordova and at the funeral home.

VISITATION WILL BE HELD 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
