Ida Belle (Hough) Martin

Ida Belle Martin, 93, of Orangeburg passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  Rev. Larry Williams will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Ida was born on July 24, 1929, in Dorchester County.  She was the daughter of the late Neely Hough and the late Sarah Varner Hough.  She worked for many years as a seamstress with Ambler Industries.  Mrs. Ida was a member of First Church of the Nazarene on Woodbine Street in Orangeburg.  She enjoyed gardening, planting iris beds and amaryllis bulbs and embroidery.  She was a loving wife, mother, “grandma” and friend.  She will forever be missed.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Archie Martin, sons, Jimmy Allen Martin and Walker Archie Martin.

Survivors include her sons, Bert Martin of Gilbert, Keith Martin of Irmo; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
