“

Steve’s life was one of service, faith, and love for others, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Steve will be remembered as a man who loved people and who loved his church and church family. His life was marked by faithful service in both his work and his ministry. For many years, he worked as a chemical operator with the Ethyl Corporation. He also served in the United States Army Reserves, giving of himself in service to his country.

A devoted man of faith, Steve served for many years as the associate pastor at Edisto Baptist Church. He was also a dedicated member of Edisto Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught adult Sunday school, and sang in the choir. His steady presence and willing heart touched many lives through the church he loved so deeply.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Fields; his mother, Dorothy Fields; and his sisters, Debra Boland and her husband, John, Jane Hutto, and Joy Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Fields. May his family find comfort in the love they shared with him and in the many memories that will continue to live on in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Edisto Baptist Church, 2726 Carver School Road, Cope, South Carolina 29038. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.  Rev. George Moore will be officiating.  Burial will take place at the church’s cemetery.
