Ishmael “Sam” Wesley Hill, Jr., 83, of Elloree passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Matthews Church of God, 1112 Bridge Street, St. Matthews. Rev. Bobby Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Elloree.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Hill, Tom V. Hill, Patrick Hill, Barney Patterson, Lance Fanning, Gregory Fanning, Kenny Mack and Michael Fulmer.
Mr. Hill was born on August 24, 1938 in Orangeburg, S.C. He was the son of the late Ishmael Wesley Hill, Sr. And the late Sara McConnell Rast. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Hill was retired as the Police Chief in Elloree, S.C. He was a member of the Masons for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police. He was an avid University of South Carolina fan. He enjoyed being on his computer. Mr. Hill was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Tom Dukes Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Browning Hill of the home; children, Ishmael Wesley Hill, III (Tammy), Richard Craig Hill, Theresa Hill Hickman; step-children, Michael Collins, William Collins, Andrew Collins; grandchildren, Shawna Haynes, Tristan Hill (Carley), Dylan Hill, Corey Douglas, Allison Collins; great-grandchildren, Trentis Stephens, Taedyn Stephens, Kailan Mickens; special friend, Paulette Hancock and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
