Jacob C. Garrick, Jr. 66, of 3426 Foxfire Lane, Orangeburg died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center.
Casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg with Dr. Shane Stutzman and Rev. Jim Parnell officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Neeses. Pallbearers will be Paul Inabinet, Charlie Pace, Tom Ashley, Chandler Brown, Danny Covington, and John Cook.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Employees of Still Walter Tool and Manufacturing Company, Buck Ridge Plantation, Orangeburg Country Club, Joe Smith, Larry Kizer, Sam Watford, Steve Davis, Eric Reed, Johnny Fogle, Gene Sanders, Jimmy Chavis and William Myers.
Mr. Garrick was born in Norway, SC on August 19, 1949. He was the son of the late J.C. Garrick, Sr. and the late Corrie Kinard Garrick. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and former deacon of Northside Baptist Church. He was the Maintenance Director at Buck Ridge Plantation and the Orangeburg Country Club. He formerly worked at Still Walter Tool & Manufacturing Company, Department of Public Safety and Orangeburg School District Five. He was a member of Omar Shrine Temple, the Yorkrite, Progress Masonic Lodge 356, and The Lions Club. Mr. Garrick served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Summers Garrick of the home; son, Jacob C. (Trip) Garrick III of Orangeburg; daughter, Joni and Robert Brown of Norway; four grandchildren, Chandler Brown, Sydney Garrick, Mallory Garrick and Brantley Brown; sister, Becky and Scott Weathers of Summerville, brother Paul David Garrick of Simpsonville; sister Paulette and Gene Cockrell of Batesburg; father-in-law and stepmother Earl and Peggy Summers of Orangeburg; brother-in-law Dwight and Sandra Summers of Orangeburg; sister-in-law Jenny and Jimmy Berry of Summerville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence, 3426 Foxfire Lane, Orangeburg and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
