Jaida Shaidé Gooden, the daughter of Jacqueline Gooden and Carlton Haigler was born on April 5th, 2008. She entered into eternal rest on November 19th, 2025.
Jaida attended elementary school: Whitaker Elementary School - Orangeburg SC, Rivelon Elementary School - Orangeburg SC, Hunley Park Elementary School- North Charleston SC, Jerry Zucker Middle School - North Charleston SC, Carver Edisto Middle School- Cope SC, Edisto High School- Cordova SC. Jaida gain notoriety with her skill in doing hair. She joined Butler Chapel AME church at a young age. Jaida attended JROTC at Edisto High School. She would volunteer with the Edisto Primary and the middle school kids, the kids and staff were very fond of her. She was also very active with attending the Edisto football/basketball games. She also liked attending parties and field trips. Jaida was on the AB honor roll at Edisto High School. She was then accepted at SCSU with a scholarship.
Jaida was a cherished daughter of Jacqueline Gooden and an adoring sister to Taylor Mack, both residing in Cordova. She was a beloved niece to her aunts and uncles, including Natalie and Alex James of Hopkins, Andrea Gooden of Houston, TX, Celeste Jackson of Orangeburg, and her uncles, Jeff Gooden of Columbia and Lawrence Gooden of Columbia. Many held her close to their hearts, including her godmother, Velina Mack, as well as her god brother, Demarion Mack and god sister Leslie Thompson. Jaida's warmth and infectious laughter will be sorely missed by these family members and the many additional friends whose lives she touched.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jaida’s life during her visitation on December 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC. A funeral service honoring her memory will follow on December 6, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, at Edisto High School, 500 R.M. Foster Road, Cordova.
Jaida's journey may have been brief, but her impact on those around her will endure. As we come together to share stories and reminisce about her beautiful spirit, we will carry her light in our hearts forever.
Jaida was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
