James “Barry” Brant, 67, of Orangeburg passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Barry was born in Orangeburg, S.C. to the late James Harter Brant and the late Dorothy Zeigler Rast Brant. He was a 1976 graduate of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. Barry was employed with the Department of Public Utilities in Orangeburg for over 33 years. After his retirement he was employed with Devin’s Florist for many years. He was a life-long member of Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Orangeburg. Barry never met a stranger. His laugh was infectious. He was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors include Mr. Barry’s children, Jamie Brant (Ashley), Ashley Brant (Michael), Casey Brant; grandchildren, Reannah, Bailee, Myles Brant; the mother of his children, Peggy Creech; brother, Mike Brant (Charlotte); sister, Brenda Bruns; aunts, Betty Carson, Mary Cunio, Devone Brant; uncle, Roger Brant (Mary) and an additional number of nieces, nephews and additional family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Debbie Hamar, uncles, Eugene Brant, Fred Brant, John Henry Brant, George Brant, B.L. “Luke” Brant, William “Ed” Brant, Konia Rast, Lonnie Rast (Mildred), Rudolph Rast, Robert Rast (Helen), aunts, Gloria Chapline, Gertrude Thompson and Mildred Thomas (Charlie).
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Memorial Church of the Nazarene, 569 Berry Street, Orangeburg. Rev. Hoke Robinson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Memorial Church of the Nazarene prior to the funeral service. Friends may also call the residence of Jamie and Ashley Brant.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Billy Brant, Kevin Brant, Jerry Thompson, Aubrey Johnson, Brian Hooker and Richard Bruns.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Bouchette.
