James Roger Dannelly, 81, husband of Mary Cross Dannelly. died Monday, February 27, 2014 at his home. ***the casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service*** Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church, in Cope Community, with the Rev. James Williams and Rev. Chuck Wells officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Henderson, Larry Bates, Bert Sanford, Freddie Rice, Jeff Edgemon, Evan Williams, Al Dannelly, Kenny Sanford, and Danny Cross. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and former Deacons of Two Mile Swamp Church and members of the Bolentown Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Dannelly was born April 17, 1932 in Orangeburg, a son of the late David Swift Dannelly and the late Mattie Sanford Dannelly. Mr. Dannelly was a lifetime member of the Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church Baptist . He was a former Deacon. He served in the U. S. Army, a veteran of Korean War. after retiring from Eagle Aviation he worked as a consultant for Bell Aviation. He was a member of the Bolentown Volunteer Fire Departmet and enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing. He also help start the first softball team for Two Milke swamp Baptist Church. He was predeceased in death be two brothers, Whildon Dannelly and Alva Wells Dannelly.
Surviving is his wife; Mary E. Cross Dannelly of the home; daughter; Carol (Keith) Ayers of Bolentown; two sons; Timmy (Sandra) Dannelly of Sumter and Tony and (Rhonda) Dannelly of Cope;five grandchildren; Lauren (Jeff) Edgemon of Orangeburg, Tristan (Freddie) Rice of Cope; Evan Williams of Bolentown Ashley Dannelly of Sumter and Katelyn Ayers of Bolentown; three great grandchildren; Kerri Whetstone, Makenzi Rice, and Rylee Strock; two sisters; Jeanene Cain of Cope and Sandra (Herschel) Reynolds of Fernandina Beach, Florida
Friends may call at the residence or at Thompson Funeral home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Thompson Funneral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
