James T. Dixon, Sr

James T. Dixon, Sr., 78, of St. Matthews passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Rev. Matthew D. Rucker will be officiating.

Mr. Dixon was born on November 11, 1937 in Calhoun County. He was the son of the late Wesley Dixon, Sr. and the late Mary Isola Zeigler Dixon. He was retired from the United States Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Matthews. Mr. Dixon was predeceased by his wife Margie Burns Dixon; son, James Dixon, Jr.; step-children, Carol Dowd, John Bruce Burns and Tommy Ray Burns; sisters, Mildred Blanchard, Peggy Bookhart and Roberta Goodwin; a brother, Wesley Lee Dixon, Jr.

Survivors include a step-son Harry Burns of Gaston; niece, Marsha "Becky" Dixon Rucker of St. Matthews; 1 grandson; 10 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
