James Clarence Fort

Mr. James Clarence Fort of 2441 Norway Road, Orangeburg, SC died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at his residence.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Willow Swamp Baptist Church, 1956 Willow Swamp Rd., Norway, SC 29113. Burial will be in the Willow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Davis and the Rev. Jason Metcalfe will be in charge of the service.

Mr. Fort was born October 15, 1935 in Georgetown, SC; the son of the late Robert F. Fort and Emma Lou Berry Fort. He was a supervisor at Utica Tool. Mr. Fort served in the US Army National Guard. He was also a Mason. He was a member of Willow Swamp Baptist Church where he served as deacon and other positions over the years. He loved farming and spending time with his family and friends and cheering on his Clemson Tigers.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Walling Fort; three sons, Hugh H. and Marcy Fort, David M. and Saundra Fort both of Norway, SC and Robert L. and Michelle Fort of Lexington, SC; one grandson, Joshua H. Fort of Norway, SC; 2 step grandchildren, Christopher C. Carroll and Jennifer R. Carroll both of Charlotte, NC; three great grandchildren, Benjamin Douglas Carroll, Jackson Carroll and Cooper Nason all of Charlotte, NC; one brother, John Robert Fort (Norma) of Norway, SC; one sister Gayle Carter of Norway, SC.

Friends may call at the residence or at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral at 2:00 PM at Willow Swamp Baptist Church.
