James Harold Gibson

James Harold Gibson, 94 died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, November 15, 2013.

A Private Family Gathering will be Sunday afternoon. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg is assisting the family

He was born December 31, 1918 in Denmark, SC; the son of the late William Earl Gibson and the late Era Blanche Atteberry Gibson. He married Annie Thelma Bates of Norway. They were married for 77 years; because of declining health, Thelma now resides at Lily Personal Care Home in Atlanta, GA. They were members of Willow Swamp Baptist Church. Harold's working years included Seaboard Coastline Railroad, worked in the Cotton Industry, Ethyl Chemical Plant known today as Albemarle. Harold and Thelma had 4 children but was preceded in death by a son; Waymon Gibson.

Survivors include his wife of 77 years; Annie Thelma Bates Gibson; 1 son; Thomas "Tommy" Gibson and wife Patricia of Norway, SC; 2 daughters; Sherry Warner and husband Chuck of Atlanta, GA; Linda Tong and husband Chris of Buffalo, TX; 14 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Harold is survived by sisters; Helen Paulk and husband Gerry of Barnwell; Emma Davis of Orangeburg and Dorothy Fickling of Darlington.

Harold will be remembered and missed for his love for the Lord and his family. His sweet spirit will forever be in our hearts and memories.
