James Earnest Merritt

James Earnest Merritt, 62, of Orangeburg passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Merritt was born on September 14, 1957 in Bluefield, Virginia.  He was the son of the late John Joe Merritt, Sr. and the late Frances M. Ratcliff Boardwine.  He worked for many years as a machine operator at Asplundh Tree Company.  Mr. Merritt enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Johnson, Lois McCoy, Sandra Frank and brothers, Robert Merritt and Charles Merritt.

Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Cutshall, Ashley Merritt, Heather Merritt, Sarah Merritt; grandchildren, Leola Pierce, Lindsey Lathrop, Cali Lathrop, Emma Matheson, Chase Cutshall, Payton Cutshall; sisters, Loretta Merritt, Linda Merritt; brother, John Merritt, Jr. and a number of nieces and nephews.
