James Hansford O'Quinn

June 18, 1926 — March 21, 2013

James Hansford O'Quinn, 76 of Orangeburg died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his home Visitation will be held 2:00 to 3:00 PM before the service at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Mr. O'Quinn was born June 18, 1926 in Bamberg, SC; the son of the late J. Hansford and Katie Summers O'Quinn. He was a member of Rivelon Baptist Church. Mr. O'Quinn served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict serving as a combat infantryman with the 24th Infantry Division in Korea in 1950 and 1951. He retired from Pepsi Cola Company in Orangeburg and he was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his wife; Ruby Amerson O'Quinn and a sister; Roma Simonelli.

Survivors include his faithful sister and caregiver for many years; Jeanette Driggers of Bamberg; a brother; Jacob O' Quinn of Columbia; nephews are Eddie Blume of Georgia, Andy Blume of Nashville, TN, Colonel Allen Blume of Woodbridge, VA, Bryan Simonelli of Virginia, Perry O'Quinn of Columbia; surviving nieces are Susan Crockett of Richmond, VA, Kathy Robertson of Virginia Beach, VA and Anna Richter of Chicago.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held 2:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Rivelon Baptist Church; 395 Rivelon Road; Orangeburg, SC 29115.
