Jami Elizabeth (Rast) Hughes, born on June 10, 1962, in Orangeburg, will be remembered for her zest for life and her unwavering love for her family. She passed away unexpectedly at her home on January 21, 2026.
Jami dedicated many years of her life to working with Bethany Homes, where her compassion and commitment were evident in every interaction. Her involvement not only showcased her professional dedication but also reflected her caring heart and desire to uplift those around her.
As a member of Northside Baptist Church, her warm spirit resonated with many, creating bonds that will endure beyond her time.
Throughout her life, Jami loved her family fiercely. She is survived by her husband, Tracey Hughes, her sons, Christopher Matthew Brister and his wife, Monica; Colin Patrick Brister and his wife, Caroline; and her daughter, Caitlin Elizabeth Briley and her husband, Kyle. Jami took great joy in her role as grandmother to four grandchildren, capturing their hearts with her playful spirit and nurturing nature.
Jami's memory will forever live on through her beloved mother, Rebecca Ann Miller Wiles; her sister, Lisa Rast Rigsby and her husband, Rob; her sister, Lauren Ashley Johnson and her husband, Bill; and her stepmother, Dianne Rast. She was predeceased by her father, John Richard Rast, and the love and connection she shared with him will remain a part of her enduring legacy.
The family will hold a service at a later date.
As we celebrate Jami's life, we honor her passion for living, and her commitment to her family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
