Janet (Avant) Blewer

Janet Avant Blewer, 95, of Cordova, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025. She was the loving wife of Harold L Blewer, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3144 Cordova Rd., Cordova, SC. Reverend Brian Self will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton St., Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 5-7pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 1012 Whitman St., Orangeburg.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Warren Blewer, Wyatt Blewer, Ernie Avant, Wesley Avant and Roger Brant. Special recognition as Honorary Pallbearers are the members of The Fidelis Sunday School Class of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Janet was born in Colleton County February 15, 1930, to the late John W. and Minerva Crosby Avant. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a devout Christian and faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was known in her community for her cooking skills, especially her Macaroni and Cheese. She was always a friendly and welcoming face.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harold L Blewer, Sr., her sons

Danny A Blewer and H. LaVerne Blewer, Jr., her parents, siblings Clark Avant, Barry Avant, Mary A. Connelly, Julia O'Quinn and Jennie Walling, a great-grandson, Caleb Gabriel Blewer.

Survivors include her daughter in-law, Wanda R. Blewer of Orangeburg, grandsons, Kevin L. Blewer (Shanell) of Orangeburg, Kyle H. Blewer (Paige) of Anderson, Great- Grandchildren, Ashlin, Ainsley, Warren, Wyatt and Tristan Blewer of Orangeburg, Camden and Grayson Blewer of Anderson, Great-Great Granddaughter, Kharmella Fanning of Orangeburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
