Janet M Gray

Ms. Janet M. Gray, 71 passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at University Hospital.

A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 11, 2014 Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg Rev. Marvin Clark officiating Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

She was born December 8, 1942 in London, KY; she was the daughter of the late James W. McDowell and the late Marie Baker McDowell. She had lived in Orangeburg, SC before moving to Augusta in 1967. She graduated from Orangeburg High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Janet was in several beauty pageants and won Miss Orangeburg. She was employed at Western Sizzlin and Golden Corral for a number of years before retiring. After retiring she was a devoted caregiver to her parents when they were living. She was an avid gardener who loved to work in her flowers and grow ferns. Janet was a devoted and loving mother, sister, aunt and her most precious times were spent with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Jeffery Gray, Paul Kitchens both of Augusta, GA; sister, Bonita Fogle and her husband Ray of Orangeburg, SC; niece, Rae Lee Fry and her husband Keith of Lexington and a special cousin, Wanda Emory of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the home of her sister, Bonita Fogle in Orangeburg.
