Obituary

Janice Padgett Shuler passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on February 21, 1954, in Portsmouth, Virginia, she lived a life centered on devotion to those she loved most.

Janice will be remembered as a woman who loved her family deeply. That love was the defining thread of her life and the legacy she leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew her. She also worked for many years with Garden City Heating and Cooling, where her steady presence and dedication were part of her long working life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerald Shuler, and by her parents, James Leroy Padgett and Eunice Gibson Padgett.

Janice is survived by her sons, Jared Lee Shuler and Gerald "Jr" Shuler (Myrna) of Cope. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Starrlynn Shuler, Jared Lee Shuler, Jr., Mason Shuler, and Addyson Shuler, who were among the great joys of her family circle. She is also survived by her brother, James "Jay" Padgett, Jr. (Teri); her best friends, Kim Ferris and Peggy Proveaux; and her adopted grandmother, Vonnie Peacock.

A service Celebrating Mrs. Janice's life will be held at Memorial Church of the Nazarene, 569 Berry Street, Orangeburg on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Charlie Snipes will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service.

Janice Padgett Shuler will be remembered with love by her family and friends, and her memory will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
