Jefferson Didemus Baltzegar, Jr.

Jefferson Didemus “Jeffrey” Baltzegar, Jr., 62, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024.

Mr. Baltzegar was the son of the late Jefferson “Jeff” Baltzegar, Sr. and the late Lucretia Kemmerlin Pate.  He received his associate’s degree in business and was employed with Hospital Services in Columbia, S. C. He retired from the United States Airforce after twenty years of dedicated service. He received the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Training Ribbon, South Asia Service Medal along with many others. He also did several tours in Desert Storm and was part of the 55th fighter squadron.  After retiring from serving his country he worked construction for many years.

Survivors include his daughters, Katie Chavis (Dylan), Abbey Baltzegar; grandsons Aydan Chavis, Declan Chavis; sisters, Teresa Pelinski (John), Marcie Zeigler (Ray); several nieces and a nephew.  He was loved very much and will be missed dearly.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home, 1012 Whitman St., Orangeburg, S. C. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church, 6208 Old Number Six Hwy., Elloree, S. C. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, 106 Antioch Rd., Santee, S. C.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Lee Hughes, Dylan Chavis, Scottie Zeigler, Ray Zeigler, John Pelinski, and Bud Judy.
