Mrs. Jennie "Gale" Pigott, age 72, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Born on June 3, 1952, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Gale lived a life marked by devotion—to her faith in Jesus Christ, her family, and to the many people whose lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unassuming nature. Gale was married to the love of her life, Rev. Rick Pigott, for 52 years. Together they built a loving home and raised two children: Hollie Craft (Kevin) and Walter "Rick" Pigott II (Tammy). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren—Makenna, Ezekiel, and Everly Pigott, and Kason Craft—each of whom brought immense joy to her life. As a faithful and cherished member of Antioch Southern Methodist Church, in Collinsville, Mississippi (8 years) and Wesley Southern Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (35 years), Gale’s deep love for the Lord guided her throughout her life and was evident in the way she cared for others. Whether through a warm meal shared from her kitchen or a thoughtful gesture extended to someone in need, Gale found joy in helping people and serving with a generous heart. She was also committed to supporting Operation Christmas Child, Relay for Life, and giving to United Blood Services, as well as sharing the gospel of Jesus through her work with the Women’s Missionary Society and giving away Jesus mini-figs with a message of the love of Jesus. She was also deeply connected to her siblings, with whom she enjoyed going on mysterious “sister beach trips,” and thrifting adventures, which often led to hidden treasures and special gifts. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Pat Barfield (Johnny); her twin sister, Dale Burcham (Danny); and brother- and sister-in-law, Evangelist Steve and Sarah Pigott. She held close the memory of those who preceded her in death: her parents, Cecil and Faye Chisolm; loving step-mother, Betty Chisolm; brother, Cliff Chisolm; and father- and mother-in-law, Richard "Poochie" and Claire Pigott. In addition to her immediate family, Gale leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, friends, and church families, who will miss her deeply but carry forward the love she so freely gave.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gale's memory to the Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child or to the Gideon's International. Known for her green thumb and love of cooking for her family, she enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers, as well as cooking meals to bring people together around the table. These simple joys reflected her servant’s heart, the warmth of her spirit, and the care she poured into every aspect of life. Though she could not see it, her gentle demeanor and infectious smile drew people in and made them feel loved. For all these reasons and so many more, Gale will be greatly missed.
