Jennifer Victoria Spears

Jennifer Victoria Spears, also known as James Ward Spears, II, 70, of Orangeburg passed away unexpectedly.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

Jennifer/James was born on May 28, 1954, in Greenville, S.C.  She was the daughter of the late James Ward Spears and the late Clara Louise Spears.  She was a graduate of North Greenville University.  Jennifer was an editor for the Times and Democrat Newspaper for over 39 years until her retirement.  She was an avid reader and history buff, a Star Trek fan and a science fiction enthusiast.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her wife, Lois K. Spears and a brother, Frank Crawford Spears.

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Catherine Kirk Owens; stepson, Ernest Lee Kirk, II; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild and many additional friends and family.
