Jimmy Douglas Hughes

November 5, 1956 — July 8, 2025

Jimmy Douglas Hughes, born on November 5th, 1956, in Bamberg, South Carolina, made his way through life with a heart full of love and a faith that never wavered. He went on home to be with the Lord July 8, 2025, down in Texas. Jimmy left behind a life full of love, laughter, and a whole lot of Jesus.

He spent 31 good years married to his sweetheart, Dianne Hughes, and together they built a strong, loving family that was the center of his world. Being a husband, dad, and PePaw was what he was proudest of, and he poured everything he had into his family: Children, Tracy (John) Jones, Carrie (Shawn) Garrett, Suzie (Derrice) Randle, Angel (Marcus) Wilson, and Eric (Melissa) Hughes; His grandchildren, Cameron (MyKayla) Jones, Bryson (Grayson) Jones, Weston (Megan) Jones, Catherine Windham, Kyle (Zoe) Garrett, Skylar Randle, Sydney Randle, Hunter Hughes, and Jade Wilson; His great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Kaleb, Ella, Melody, Mia, Kohan, and Lennox.

Jimmy also leaves behind his brother Franklin (Sandy) Hughes and sister, Ronda (Ricky) Bouchette. While he's now reunited with his parents, David and Grace Hughes, some of his siblings, Vernon Hughes, Edward Hughes , Charles “Willie” Hughes and Zandra Wilkes, and his precious great-grandson Tucker Jones, the rest of us are left here missing him something fierce.

He was a man of deep faith, no doubt about it. No matter what life threw his way, he leaned hard on the Lord. Jimmy had a way of showing up when folks needed help, no questions asked. He lived out his faith in quiet, steady ways, just by being there and loving people like Jesus did.

Now, this isn’t the end of Jimmy’s story -- far from it. The love he gave, the faith he lived out, and the way he made folks feel seen and cared for, that’s going to live on. His life was full of grit, grace, and a whole lot of heart, and it’s going to keep on shining through everyone who loved him.

So today, we aren’t just saying goodbye; we’re celebrating a life well lived. Let’s keep loving like Jimmy did, leaning on Jesus, and living each day with that same fire he had in his soul. Happy trails; we’ll see you over yonder.
