Jimmy “Bruce” Young, 64, of Orangeburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with his family by his side.
Bruce was born on July 25, 1960, in Orangeburg. He was the son of the late James C. Young, Jr. and the late Ann Marie Whisenhunt Young. He retired from Devro after 38 years of service. Bruce enjoyed building and working with his hands, but his favorite hobby was building “sand rails” or dune buggies in his buggy shop. He also enjoyed collecting crosses and going to the flea market. Bruce loved life and lived in the moment. His laugh was distinct and infectious and could light up a room. His family was his life. Being a “Pa” and “Granddaddy” brought him so much joy.
Survivors include his loving wife of nine years, Jamie H. Young; children, Tia Young, Kasey Grabiec (Rocky), Mark McArdle (Mary); grandchildren, Bria Bell, Jolie Bell, Harper Grabiec, Olivia McArdle, Nora Grace McArdle; sisters, Mary Ann Scott, Glenda Cramer (Ryan); brothers, Dean Young, Clifford Young; his fur babies, “Brindi”, “Jules” and a number of nieces, nephews and additional family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Dallas Scott.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street Orangeburg. Rev. David Lee Mitchell will be officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o the Lower Savannah Council on Aging at 2748 Wagener Road, Aiken, S.C. 29801.
