Joe Levrin Kemmerlin, Sr

Joe Kemmerlin, Sr.,70, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Orangeburg. Rev. Ryan Tucker and Rev. Greg Dowey will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Hank McCollum, Bobby Oliver, Junior Boltin, Charlie DeWitt, Terry Oliver, Michael Roebuck and Gary Neal

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the VFW Post # 2779 and Auxillary, BPOE Elks Lodge #897 and the Woodman of the World.

Mr. Kemmerlin was born on November 7, 1945 in Holly Hill. He was the son of the late Furman Kemmerlin and the late Corrie "Doll" Bunch Kemmerlin. He was a member of the United States Army and he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Woodman of the World, VFW Post 2779, Sandlappers (Cooties) and BPOE Elks Lodge #897. Mr. Kemmerlin was also a member of First Baptist Church in Orangeburg. He was predeceased by his brothers, Hoyte Boltin, Robbie Boltin and Willie Kemmerlin.

Survivors include his wife Janice Oliver Kemmerlin of the home; 2 sons, Joe Kemmerlin (Jody) of Lexington and Timothy (Joey) Kemmerlin of Orangeburg; 2 grandchildren, Jayden and Jaylynn Kemmerlin of Lexington; a sister Patty West of West Columbia and several nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and a special friend, Pat Carr of Myrtle Beach.

Friends may call at the residence.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to The Vet Fisher House in Charleston, S.C.
