John T. Spires

John T. Spires, Jr. 81, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Mt. Beulah Church Cemetery, Neeses, S.C.

Pastor Linda Robinson and Pastor Thomas Baltzegar will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Thomas Glover, Larry Fogle, Randy Harsey and Juan Carlos Still.

John was born on December 29, 1943 in Neeses, S. C.  He was the son of the late John “J.T.” T. Spires, Sr. and the late Junell Williamson Holman.  He was a supervisor with Carolina Construction for many years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Arthur Spires, his sisters, Mae Spires, and Betty McCollum.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda B. Spires; children, Teresa Beason (Roger), Nick Lee (Angie); stepchildren, Chris Rutland, Ricky Rutland; eleven grandchildren; five  great-grandchildren; brothers, Leroy Spires (Shirley), Carl Spires, Palmer McAlhany (Terry); aunt, Nancy; special nephew, Robert McCollum and a number of additional nieces and nephews.
