John "Johnny" Stephen Union

John “Johnny” Stephen Union, 70,  passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Orangeburg.  Prior to the mass a visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 at the church.  Father Wil Mwape will be in charge of the mass.

Mr. Union was born on September 20, 1947 in Orangeburg.  He was the son of the late Joseph Samuel Union and the late Ella Nora DeMars Union.  He joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.  Mr. Union was a member of the Elks, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War and the Disabled American Veterans.  He was also a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Orangeburg.  Mr. John loved his family and his country.  He was loyal to his family and friends.  He loved beach music and rhythm and blues.  He loved entertaining family and friends and spending time on the water.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Kaye Sharpe Union of the home; sons, Stephen Union of Dale, S.C., Sean (Elizabeth) Union of Greenville; grandchildren, Jacob and Sawyer Union of Orangeburg and Sam, Kathyrn and Allie Union of Greenville; brother, Joe (Cheryl) Union of Niceville, FL; sisters, Karen (Ron) Long of Columbia, Jan (Jimmy) Carnes of Richman Hill, GA; mother-in-law, Peggy Sharpe of Columbia; many other loving family members and a longtime friend, Tom Ulmer of Orangeburg.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Regency Hospice and nurse Johnna Patrick for their care and dedicated service.
